    A 60-year-old daily wage worker from Malaikottalam village committed a horrific act in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district, beheading his second wife and her suspected lover. The gruesome incident occurred early Thursday. The accused, identified as K Kolanji, then transported the severed heads to Vellore central prison, where he surrendered to the police. The victims, 40-year-old K Lakhmi and 50-year-old K Thanjarasu, were murdered. Neighbors discovered the headless bodies on the terrace of Kolanji’s apartment and alerted the authorities. A police team, led by Kallakurichi DSP S Thangavel, initiated an investigation at the crime scene, utilizing a sniffer dog to gather clues. The bodies were subsequently sent for postmortem examination. Kolanji is now in police custody, and a case has been filed against him. He confessed to the double murder, citing the victims’ refusal to end their extramarital relationship. The murder weapon has also been recovered.
