As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to electrify the NDA’s campaign in Tamil Nadu, Chennai traffic police have announced sweeping diversions on key highways for his January 23 rally in Madurantakam. The measures target the GST Road between Chennai and Tindivanam, ensuring top-notch security for this pivotal pre-election mega-event.

Chengalpattu police highlighted that the restrictions stem from the need to secure the venue for PM Modi’s speech, the first major NDA show of strength before the state assembly polls. Thousands of attendees, volunteers, and party workers from every corner of Tamil Nadu are anticipated, turning the highway stretch into a hub of political fervor.

Heavy vehicles face a complete ban on GST Road from 7 AM to 7 PM Friday between Chennai and Tindivanam. Chennai-Tindivanam bound trucks should detour via Vandalur-Kelambakkam-Mamallapuram-ECR, linking back at Marakkanam. Other options include inland routes from Vandalur, Padappai, Oragadam, Valajabad, Kanchipuram, Vandavasi, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram.

Tiruchi-Salem to Chennai traffic must utilize Ulundurpet-Tiruvannamalai-Vandavasi-Kanchipuram corridors. Light vehicles and buses will see diversions from 11 AM to 7 PM, with Chennai outbound traffic to Tindivanam/Villupuram directed to ECR or Kanchipuram-Vandavasi paths. Inbound from Villupuram/Tindivanam: stick to Marakkanam-ECR or bypasses.

The rally will feature PM Modi delivering a rousing address alongside NDA leaders from AIADMK, BJP, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Tamil Maanila Congress, and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam. Authorities emphasize advance planning, sign adherence, and collaboration with traffic staff for hassle-free movement amid the high-profile visit.

This strategic gathering underscores the NDA’s unified push in Tamil Nadu, promising a charged atmosphere as elections near.
