Telangana HC Halts TGPSC Appointment Quashing, 1032 Jobs Saved

The Telangana High Court has intervened to protect over a thousand jobs, issuing an interim stay on an order that had nullified the selection list for 1,032 TGPSC Group-II Services positions. The original appointments, made in October 2019 based on a 2015-16 notification, have been embroiled in legal challenges for years. A division bench, led by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G M Mohiuddin, granted the stay after hearing an appeal from two deputy tehsildars who were among the selected candidates. The court acknowledged the argument that overturning appointments finalized four years ago would be inequitable. The appellants successfully contended that the initial writ petition did not include all 1,032 qualified candidates and that the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) had followed necessary technical committee guidelines during the recruitment process. The court also noted that crucial judicial precedents were seemingly overlooked by the single judge. All parties have been ordered to submit their counter-affidavits, with the case scheduled for further substantive review in six weeks. This stay provides temporary relief to the affected appointees amidst the ongoing OMR sheet tampering allegations that initially sparked the legal dispute.
