Severe flooding in Punjab has affected 1,996 villages, resulting in the loss of over 46 lives and the destruction of 1.75 lakh hectares of crops. The water levels of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers have surpassed the danger marks, displacing thousands who are now in relief camps. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the army are actively involved in rescue operations. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas on Tuesday. Simultaneously, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Rahul Gandhi of vacationing in Malaysia after completing the Bihar voter rights yatra, sharing a photo as evidence. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also issued a notice to a BJP worker from Karnataka, S. Vignesh Shishir, who had claimed Rahul Gandhi was a British citizen. The ED has instructed Shishir to appear on September 9th with supporting evidence under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Additionally, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has announced its support for the India Bloc’s candidate, former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, in the upcoming Vice President election. A two-day workshop for BJP MPs is scheduled to commence today in the Parliament complex, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President J.P. Nadda in attendance. The workshop will also honor PM Modi for GST reforms. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has praised the ED’s actions in a joint operation with US agencies that led to the busting of a major drug network. Former US President Donald Trump is planning to visit South Korea next month and may meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Peter Navarro, an advisor to Donald Trump, criticized India’s purchase of Russian oil, leading to rebuttals on X. A bomb blast during a cricket match in Pakistan’s Bajaur district resulted in one death and multiple injuries. Finally, Liam Livingstone’s outstanding performance of 85 runs off 45 balls, including 7 sixes, secured a spot for the Lancashire team in the semi-finals of the Vitality Blast.
