In a testament to proactive policing, Delhi Police’s alert patrolling team foiled a mobile snatching attempt, leading to one arrest and the recovery of three phones on January 27. The operation near Model Basti on Rani Jhansi Road began with a minor accident that exposed the criminals’ nerves.
As officers approached the crashed motorcycle, the three occupants bolted. Constable Pratap’s quick pursuit resulted in the capture of Ritik alias Kalwa, aged 22 from Paharganj’s Nabi Karim. The other two, Wasim and Salim, fled with the bike. Ritik’s pockets yielded crucial evidence: an Oppo phone from a Motinagar theft, an Itel tied to Lahori Gate snatching, and a suspicious Lava device.
Interrogation revealed the gang’s recent theft of the Pulsar bike from Anand Parvat, which they rode for daring daylight snatchings. Delhi Police has ramped up station-level patrols, especially at dawn, to keep tabs on local criminals and deter offenses.
With Ritik in custody and cases filed, the hunt for his partners intensifies. This success highlights the impact of strategic vigilance, reassuring residents that their safety is a top priority. Police are now verifying phone owners and expanding the probe to dismantle similar networks operating in the capital.
