The last rites of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, a prominent BJP leader, were conducted with full state honors in Rajkot, Gujarat. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other dignitaries attended the funeral. A 21-gun salute was accorded to Rupani as a tribute. The funeral procession, which began from his residence, was managed with comprehensive security and traffic restrictions imposed by Rajkot Police. Earlier in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and senior cabinet ministers paid their respects to Rupani. His mortal remains were kept for public viewing. Former Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and family members of Rupani were also present at the hospital. Rupani’s wife, Anjali Rupani, bid an emotional farewell. His son, Rushabh Rupani, expressed the family’s grief and extended condolences to the families affected by the tragic incident. Rushabh also acknowledged the support from various agencies and leaders, while reflecting on his father’s legacy of touching countless lives during his long political career. Rupani was among the casualties of the Air India plane crash near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. A British national of Indian origin, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, survived the crash and is receiving medical treatment.
