A traveler at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport discovered a worm in their food at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe. The incident occurred on Thursday morning. When the passenger brought the issue to the staff’s attention, they initially attempted to conceal the problem. However, after the passenger began recording a video, the staff apologized and offered a full refund of ₹300 for the meal.

The Rameshwaram Cafe has been in the news previously, including an IED explosion at one of its outlets in March, which caused injuries. This incident adds to a series of food safety concerns. In December 2024, a passenger found a cockroach in a bread pakora at Jaipur International Airport. Similar issues surfaced around the same time, with a taximan at Jaipur Airport finding a dead mouse in chocolate syrup and an insect in a Burger King burger. Earlier this month, a Shiv Sena MLA from Buldhana, Sanjay Gaikwad, alleged poor food quality at the Akashwani canteen in Mumbai, claiming staff ignored his complaints. A video purportedly showed Gaikwad slapping a canteen worker. The state’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) temporarily suspended the license of Ajanta Caterers, which managed the Akashwani canteen, and collected food samples. Gaikwad has stood by his actions, stating he has “no regrets.”
