Jaipur’s vibrant Literature Festival became a platform for diplomacy as Australia’s top envoy in India, Philip Green, engaged in candid talks on deepening bilateral bonds. Speaking exclusively to IANS, Green painted a picture of robust growth in India-Australia relations, driven by strategic synergy and economic complementarity.

In the last ten years, relations have accelerated on multiple fronts. Strategically, both commit to Indo-Pacific stability via Quad. Economically, Australia’s mineral exports meet India’s demands, while Indian manufactures fill Australian needs. The million-strong Indian diaspora acts as a vital human connector.

Addressing global turbulence, Green affirmed both countries’ pivotal roles. ‘Our interests align perfectly in securing the Indian Ocean,’ he said. Defense collaborations have intensified threefold, making India a key partner in contentious times.

Looking ahead, high-level summits loom, with emphasis on vital minerals trade. On free trade, Green was unequivocal: every Indian good enters Australia tariff-free. ‘No asterisks, no fine print – we firmly believe in zero tariffs.’

As PM Albanese and PM Modi gear up for talks, this partnership promises mutual advancement in trade, security, and beyond, setting a model for international cooperation.
