    Kolkata: Amid turmoil over RG Kar incidents in August and questions raised by doctors about the need for holistic healthcare system, Trinamool National General Secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday launched a programme ‘Sebaashray’, a doorstep medical health camp facility designed to provide holistic healthcare services to residents of his Parliamentary Constituency.”We are launching a first of its kind camp in India. We aim to give service to 23-24 lakh people in the Constituency. The doctors will give free health services, medicines, testing facilities, an awareness booklet, unique IDs to the people who will come to the medical camps,” Banerjee said. He urged all to participate in the camps. “Those who have voted for me or have not voted for me-all are my people in the Constituency. This camp is for all and people of all caste, creed and religion can take the services. So, we invite all to come to the camps,” he added.Over the next 75 days, “Sebaashray” health camps will be held across Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency in all seven assembly constituencies. Around 40-50 camps will be organised every 10 days with around 300 camps across.

    “The initiative have been undertaken for the first time in India. Around 1200-1400 doctors have been brought together under one roof for the purpose,” Banerjee said.

    “On an average, there will be around 40-50 health camps in every Assembly Constituency,” Banerjee said.”A Mega Camp will be organized for five days 16-20 March in 300 locations which will be designated as Follow Up camps. A Model camp has been launched today. We have created arrangements including a registration desk, help desk, rest room for doctors and three chambers of the doctors. Every Model camp will have 50 volunteers,” he said.Various diseases will be treated, including a dedicated eye check-up clinic, Cancer detection clinic, and other facility,” Trinamool national spokesperson said.

    The camps will operate continuously for 10 days in each Assembly Constituency (AC) ofDiamond Harbour, people in the know said.

    From doctor consultation, in the form of OPD services will be offered by MBBS doctors or registered medical practitioners, coupled with volunteers, nurses, health-care workers, pharmacists, and lab technicians. Six basic diagnostic tests will be available including BMI, blood pressure, blood sugar, hemoglobin, malaria, dengue, and ECG.
