Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma has secured a decisive victory over Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Verma, previously a two-time Member of Parliament from West Delhi, led by over 4,000 votes as counting neared completion, according to Election Commission (EC) data. The final results confirmed Verma’s triumph, marking a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape. Speaking to the media, Verma credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of Delhi for the BJP’s success. “This government which is going to be formed in Delhi will bring PM Modi’s vision to the city. I thank the people of Delhi. This is the victory of PM Modi and the people of Delhi,” he said.Development, good governance have won; we will leave no stone unturned for Delhi’s all-round development, said PM Narendra Modi in a post on X following the on poll results.Election Trends and BJP’s Strong PerformanceAs per Election Commission data, BJP made a strong comeback in Delhi, winning multiple seats and leading in key constituencies. In contrast, AAP, which had been in power for over a decade, struggled to maintain its foothold. Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time in the Delhi elections.

Key BJP victories included Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, Chandan Kumar Choudhary from Sangam Vihar, and Tilak Ram Gupta from Tri Nagar. Meanwhile, AAP secured two seats with Virender Singh Kadian winning from Delhi Cantt and Kuldeep Kumar from Kondli.

People have supported us as well. But, I lose by 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate who won. I hope he will work for the constituency.”

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva attributed BJP’s victory to the public’s preference for the party’s governance model over AAP’s. “The people of Delhi have chosen PM Modi’s good model of governance and have rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s model. Issues like contaminated water, broken roads, and pollution in the Yamuna reflect Kejriwal’s governance, which the people have rejected,” Sachdeva said.
