Ayush Mhatre, the dynamic young opener representing both Mumbai and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is in blistering form during the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He recently achieved the remarkable feat of smashing consecutive centuries in the tournament. Following his maiden T20 hundred (110 off 53 balls) against Vidarbha just days prior, Mhatre delivered another stellar performance. He scored an unbeaten 104 off 59 balls in Mumbai’s commanding nine-wicket victory over Andhra in a Group A match. This incredible display of batting prowess saw him outshine even national T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav. Mhatre’s explosive innings, which included nine sixes and five fours, was instrumental in chasing down a target of 160. The 18-year-old, retained by CSK, has already registered 19 sixes across three matches in the current season. His remarkable century-scoring spree also marks a significant personal milestone, making him the youngest Indian to score centuries in all three domestic formats – First-class, List A, and T20 – at just 18 years and 135 days, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s record.
