The recent passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, in Parliament has prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to assess the future of its sponsorship agreement with Dream11. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated the board’s commitment to adhering to the new legislation. A detailed examination of the bill’s implications, particularly concerning ongoing partnerships like the one with Dream11, is underway. The BCCI will only pursue commercial collaborations that align with governmental regulations, similar to previous instances where advertising of alcohol and tobacco was prohibited. Saikia emphasized that the BCCI would not engage in activities deemed impermissible. Dream11, a real-money online gaming platform, currently sponsors the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams. Their sponsorship, which runs from July 2023 to March 2026, includes branding rights across all cricket formats and is valued at INR 358 crore.
