Delhi Capitals etched their name in WPL lore Tuesday, defeating Gujarat Giants by seven wickets in the Eliminator at Vadodara’s BCA Stadium to reach their fourth straight final. This victory saw them overhaul 169 runs – the highest playoff chase ever recorded in the tournament.

Despite reaching the summit clash in the last three seasons, the trophy has eluded them. The pattern is clear: past Eliminator victors have all gone on to win the WPL, positioning Delhi perfectly for their breakthrough moment.

Opting to bat, Gujarat Giants managed 168/7, with opener Beth Mooney anchoring the innings unbeaten on 62 from 51 deliveries, including six boundaries. Georgia Wareham added 35. Chinelle Henry was the wrecker-in-chief for Delhi, snaring three scalps, supported by Nandin Sharma’s two and Minnu Mani’s one.

In response, Delhi’s top order fired on all cylinders. Lizelle Lee’s explosive 43 off 24 balls featured nine boundaries, Jemimah Rodrigues steadied with 41, Shefali Verma chipped in 31, and Laura Wolvaardt finished unbeaten on 32. The milestone? All four top batters surpassing 30 runs – a WPL first.

Wareham grabbed two wickets, Gayakwad one for the Giants. After heartbreaking final defeats – to MI in 2023 and 2025, RCB in 2024 – Delhi Capitals are hungry to end their title drought. This clinical performance signals they mean business in the decider.
