Tottenham Hotspur FC announced the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou on June 6, 2025, a decision made collectively by the board and not influenced by the Europa League victory. Daniel Levy reflected on the triumph, acknowledging its significance while emphasizing the club’s primary objectives. He stated that the Europa League win, though celebrated, wasn’t the ultimate goal, with the Premier League title being the major target. Levy identified Thomas Frank as the ideal manager to achieve this, a title Tottenham last secured in 1961.

Levy expressed his feelings saying, “You saw the outpouring of emotion with the parade. It was just incredible. We’ve won a European trophy.” He added, “But it’s not enough. It’s what we haven’t done that is more important. We need to win the league. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League. We want to win.”

Levy emphasized his resolve: “You know I have got very broad shoulders. Failure is not an option. The desire to succeed – because it is so difficult I want to succeed even more.” He also expressed gratitude towards Postecoglou: “I’m very grateful to Ange. I don’t regret appointing Ange. In his first season we finished fifth and in our second season we were over the moon to win the trophy.”

Levy highlighted the need to compete in all competitions, leading to the decision for a change. He maintained a positive relationship with Postecoglou and stated the decision was made collectively by the board. Levy stated that with a new coach, there would be a fresh start and different ideas, with the goal of building on the trophy win. Levy admired Thomas Frank’s intelligence and communication skills, stating his technical abilities were also important.
