Dilip Doshi, Veteran Indian Cricketer, Passes Away in London at 77

Dilip Doshi, a distinguished figure in Indian cricket, has died in London at the age of 77 following a cardiac arrest. Doshi, who represented India in both Test and One Day International matches, passed away on Monday. He is survived by his wife, Kalindi, son Nayan, and daughter Vishakha. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced his death, expressing their grief. Doshi’s career spanned from 1979 to 1983, during which he took 114 wickets in Tests and 22 in ODIs. His Test debut in Chennai against Australia in 1979 was particularly memorable, with impressive figures of 6 for 103 in the first innings. He is among a select few Indian cricketers to have taken a five-wicket haul on their Test debut. He also had a notable domestic career playing for Saurashtra and Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, and in English county cricket for Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire. Doshi’s overall first-class career saw him claim 898 wickets. His contributions to cricket are remembered with fondness.
