The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 schedule has undergone a significant change, with the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai now confirmed as a host venue, replacing the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This decision was made after the Karnataka State Association was unable to secure the necessary government clearances to host matches. The ICC announced this alteration on Friday, August 22. Bengaluru’s inclusion as a venue was uncertain since early August, with concerns intensifying after a tragic stampede during RCB’s IPL title celebrations raised questions about crowd management and safety protocols. As a result, the ICC moved quickly to finalize Navi Mumbai as the replacement. The DY Patil Stadium will now host three league games, a semi-final, and potentially the final, unless Pakistan qualifies, in which case the summit clash will be held at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. The tournament will span from September 30 to November 2, featuring league games followed by semi-finals and the final, with the top four teams from the league stage advancing to the knockout phase. The DY Patil Stadium offers a strong alternative, known for its modern facilities and prior experience in hosting high-profile cricket events, promising world-class conditions for both players and fans.
