England’s young guns fired on all cylinders to demolish New Zealand by 65 runs in a crucial Super Sixes clash of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026, securing their semi-final berth at Queen’s Sports Club. Manny Lumsden’s breathtaking 5/17 in a miserly spell of 6.5 overs turned the game on its head, handing him the match-defining accolade.

Opting to bowl first, New Zealand watched helplessly as England racked up 234/7. The innings kicked off promisingly with openers Ben Dawkins (42 off 62, 5×4) and Joseph Moore (20) adding 48 runs. Dawkins then linked with Ben Mays (53 off 70, 5×4) for another 48, pushing the score past 100.

Caleb Faulkner (47, 3×4) provided the late flourish. Bowlers Mason Clarke and Snehit Reddy struck twice each for New Zealand, but the total proved mountainous.

New Zealand’s chase imploded spectacularly. Reeling at 64/4, Callum Samson (14) and Snehit Reddy (47, 1×6, 2×4) resurrected hopes with 48 runs, but Lumsden struck repeatedly. Jaskaran Sandhu’s 26 couldn’t salvage the innings, as they folded for 169 in 38.5 overs. Sebastian Morgan supported with 2 wickets.

Group 2 toppers England join Group 1’s Australia and Afghanistan in the semis. India vs Pakistan on February 1 decides the final qualifier, while Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe bow out. This victory showcases England’s depth and Lumsden’s emergence as a spin wizard.
