Following the conclusion of the five-match Test series between India and England in London, a new cricket league commenced. This league features players from across the globe. During the inaugural match of this league at Lord’s Cricket Ground, an unusual scene unfolded, causing a temporary halt to the game. The interruption wasn’t due to rain or an injury, but rather a fox that ran onto the field. The fox circled the pitch several times before eventually leaving, allowing the game to resume.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, during the start of The Hundred 2025 (Men’s). The first match was played between London Spirit and the previous champions, Oval Invincibles. As the fox dashed across the field, spectators were amused. The animal’s presence caused a delay of about a minute, interrupting the play. London Spirit’s fast bowler, Daniel Worrall, was in the middle of his bowling run-up when the fox appeared.

Commentators Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan couldn’t contain their laughter at the sight. Sky Sports Cricket shared a video of the fox on the field, which quickly went viral. After circling the ground, the fox exited, and the match continued.

In the match, London Spirit batted first, scoring only 80 runs for all wickets in 94 balls. Oval Invincibles’ spinners Rashid Khan and all-rounder Sam Curran delivered exceptional performances, dismantling the London Spirit batting lineup, which included star batsmen such as David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Ashton Turner. Rashid and Sam Curran each took three wickets, while Jordan Clark secured two wickets. Chasing the target, Oval Invincibles won the match, scoring the required runs for the loss of four wickets in 69 balls. Rashid Khan was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
