Every athlete dreams of representing their country, a goal achieved by only a select few. Sometimes, despite relentless effort, fate intervenes. This was the reality for a former Pakistan Under-19 cricketer and all-rounder. In 2016, a harrowing incident altered his career trajectory. To escape a fire, Yasim Murtaza, born in Sialkot, Pakistan, jumped from the second floor of a hotel. The fall resulted in a broken leg, shattering his dream of playing for Pakistan. However, he has now emerged as the captain of another nation’s team, competing in the Asia Cup.
