Australia is gearing up for its white-ball tour of South Africa, and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is on the verge of achieving a unique milestone in T20Is. With just four wickets needed to reach 50 T20I wickets, Maxwell is close to joining an exclusive club of cricketers who have surpassed 2,500 runs and taken at least 50 wickets in T20Is.
A historic T20I club awaits. If Maxwell achieves this feat, he will become only the fifth player in T20I history to record the rare double of 2,500+ runs and 50+ wickets. The current elite group comprises:

Maxwell is already Australia’s third-highest run-scorer in T20Is, having scored 2,754 runs in 121 matches (111 innings) with an average of 29.29 and a striking rate of 156.03. His T20I career includes five centuries and 11 half-centuries, with a top score of 145 not out.
He has also made significant contributions with the ball, taking 46 wickets at an average of 30.08, with his best figures being 3/10. Securing four more wickets will place him in the T20I record books.
In the 2025 season, Maxwell has played in five T20Is, scoring 90 runs at an average of 18.00, but with an impressive strike rate of over 195. His highest score this year is 47. While bowling, he has averaged 21.00, with best figures of 2/15.
Australia’s white-ball tour of South Africa begins on August 10, featuring three T20Is and then three ODIs. All eyes will be on Glenn Maxwell, not only for his explosive batting but also for the historic mark that reflects his all-round excellence in the T20 format.
