India’s historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 victory has ignited nationwide celebrations, but fans eager for a grand victory parade will need to exercise patience. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that no official celebration plans, including a parade, have been finalized as of now. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the focus is currently on upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings in Dubai. “Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” Saikia mentioned. He is scheduled to depart for Dubai on November 4th to attend these crucial meetings, with several other senior BCCI officials also heading there. Decisions regarding any felicitation ceremony or a potential victory parade will be made only after the delegation’s return to India. The ICC meetings are set to conclude by November 7th. In addition to scheduling post-victory events, the BCCI also plans to address the issue of the missing Asia Cup trophy, which has reportedly not yet been presented to the victorious Indian team. The Women’s World Cup campaign culminated in a spectacular fashion at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 2nd. India secured their maiden World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. Opting to bat, India posted a formidable 298 for 7, propelled by an explosive 87 from Shafali Verma, who stepped in as an injury replacement. Verma’s partnership with Smriti Mandhana (45) was crucial, with Deepti Sharma (52) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 24 balls) providing late impetus. South Africa’s chase was spearheaded by a brilliant century from captain Laura Wolvaardt, but India’s disciplined bowling, featuring Deepti Sharma’s exceptional 5 for 39, proved too strong, securing the historic win. While the official celebrations await, the nation continues to revel in this monumental achievement, marking a new dawn for women’s cricket in India.
