The Indian cricket team has faced a significant challenge at Edgbaston in Birmingham, particularly in Test matches. Despite a history of 169 matches in England across all formats, with nine Test wins, 45 ODI victories, and six T20I wins, Edgbaston remains an unconquered ground for India in Test cricket. The team has played eight Test matches at this venue without a single win, dating back to their first match in 1967. In contrast, India has enjoyed more success in ODIs at Edgbaston, securing eight wins out of twelve matches played there.

India’s Test record at Edgbaston shows a pattern of struggles. The team has only surpassed 300 runs once in 16 innings. Their lowest score at the ground is 92, recorded in their inaugural Test there. The lone draw for India at Edgbaston occurred in 1967, during a series victory.

Historically, the ground has witnessed notable performances. In 2011, Alastair Cook’s impressive score of 294 contributed to England’s innings and 242-run victory, with England amassing a record Test innings score of 710/7 at Edgbaston. The most recent encounter in 2022 saw India setting a target of 378, but England successfully chased it down with seven wickets to spare.
