In a candid chat ahead of the third T20I in Guwahati, Ishan Kishan revealed his philosophy post his match-winning 76 against New Zealand. The left-hander’s goal? Savor cricket’s joys while honing back to basic techniques and key priorities.

Making a roaring comeback after almost two years in the wilderness, Kishan is setting sights on the 2026 T20 World Cup. His Raipur masterclass not only clinched Player of the Match but also steered India to chase down 209 with seven wickets in hand, rescuing them from 6 for 2.

‘I hoped to go in, keep cool, respect each delivery, and execute proper shots,’ Kishan recounted. Powerplay aggression was key in such a steep chase, he explained, blending fearless strokeplay with smart positioning against NZ’s attack.

The 27-year-old’s resurgence stems from stellar Jharkhand performances, capped by a domestic T20 title win. ‘The big question was, can I do it again? Proving it boosts confidence,’ he said. ‘I’m just enjoying the process, stepping back to basics, and focusing on what matters.’

Team return brought no overwhelming pressure, Kishan insisted. Having navigated highs and lows, his focus sharpened on World Cup glory. ‘We need to figure out improvements to lift that trophy.’ With consistent fire, Kishan is poised to cement his spot in India’s white-ball setup, thrilling fans with his audacious batting.
