South Africa’s women’s cricket fraternity celebrates a new chapter with the announcement of squads for the white-ball series against Pakistan. Spotlight falls on prodigy Kayla Reyneke, the 20-year-old ex-Under-19 skipper who shone brightly at the 2025 U19 T20 World Cup, leading her team to silver glory.

Reyneke, representing Western Province in domestic circuits, steps into the T20 arena for the first time under captain Laura Wolvaardt. This series, kicking off soon, pits a refreshed Proteas side against Pakistan, blending seasoned campaigners with emerging talents.

Key inclusions in the T20 unit include stalwarts Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Dane van Niekerk, Sune Luus, and Ayabonga Khaka. Comebacks steal the show with Sinalo Jafta, Karabo Meso behind the stumps, Nonkululeko Mlaba spinning webs, Annerie Dercksen’s all-round skills, plus Tazmin Brits and Ayanda Hlubi returning post-Ireland series.

Teams converge in Potchefstroom from February 5, with T20s scheduled February 10-16— a perfect dress rehearsal for the 2026 T20 World Cup in England. The ODIs, starting February 22 through March 1, launch the ICC Women’s Championship points race for 2029 World Cup spots.

ODI alterations bring in Lara Goodall, Faye Tunnicliffe, Nondumiso Shangase, and Tumi Sekhukhune, sidelining Ayabonga, Masabata, Kayla, and Dane.
