Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly making a strong effort to secure KL Rahul ahead of the 2026 IPL season. Rahul, currently in excellent form with the bat, has attracted significant interest, with KKR appearing to be the frontrunner. Rahul’s recent performances in England, where he has scored two centuries, have caught the attention of several IPL franchises. The Delhi Capitals had signed Rahul for Rs 14 crore, and he had a solid season, scoring 539 runs in 13 innings. Now, KKR is reportedly prepared to offer up to Rs 25 crore to bring him to Kolkata. KKR is also considering Rahul as a potential captain. The franchise struggled in the 2025 season under stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane, failing to make the playoffs. KKR’s leadership crisis is partly due to the decision to let go of Shreyas Iyer and the departure of key coaching staff. The biggest challenge for KKR will be convincing the Delhi Capitals to let Rahul go. If the trade happens, it could be a turning point for KKR and the entire IPL 2026. Rahul’s value comes from his abilities as a top-order batter, wicketkeeper, and proven captain, making him a valuable asset.
