Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a dominant performance, defeating Hong Kong by seven wickets in the third match of the tournament held in Abu Dhabi. Chasing a target of 144 runs, Bangladesh comfortably reached the total in 17.4 overs, losing only three wickets. Captain Liton Das was instrumental, scoring a commanding half-century that set the stage for their successful chase. After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first, a decision that proved effective early on. Hong Kong’s innings struggled to gain momentum, eventually finishing at 143 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Nizakat Khan top-scored for Hong Kong with 42, while Taskin Ahmed, Tanjim Hasan Sakib, and Rishad Hossain each took two wickets for Bangladesh. In response, Bangladesh’s innings was spearheaded by Liton Das and Towhid Hridoy, who formed a crucial 95-run partnership. Das’s impressive 59 off 38 balls, included six boundaries and a six. Hridoy contributed a steady 35 runs, guiding Bangladesh to victory with 14 balls to spare.
