Legal proceedings have commenced against those who made serious allegations against former captain MS Dhoni in the IPL spot-fixing case. The Madras High Court has ordered the commencement of a hearing in a defamation case filed by Dhoni a decade ago. Dhoni had filed the case, seeking ₹100 crore in damages from two major media houses, a prominent journalist, and retired IPS officer G. Sampath Kumar. The allegations involved these individuals allegedly dragging Dhoni’s name into the IPL betting scandal. Justice C.V. Karthikeyan appointed an advocate commissioner on Monday to record Dhoni’s evidence at a location convenient for all parties and their lawyers in Chennai. The appointment of the advocate commissioner was made to avoid any disruption at the High Court due to Dhoni’s celebrity status, which might have caused an inconvenience during his physical presence.
