Mahanaryaman Scindia is poised to become the new president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) as no other candidate has filed a nomination for the position. This marks the third generation of the Scindia family to lead the MPCA, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Madhavrao Scindia, and his father, Jyotiraditya Scindia, who both served as presidents for extended periods.

Mahanaryaman, the son of Union Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, has been actively involved in cricket administration recently. He currently holds positions as the president of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) and the vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA).

The appointment is expected to be confirmed at the annual general meeting of the state cricket body, scheduled for September 2nd in Indore. Mahanaryaman is the sole candidate for the MPCA presidency and is likely to be elected unopposed. He will succeed Abhilash Khandekar as the new MPCA president.

Khandekar, a senior journalist and author, assumed the MPCA presidency in 2019 with the support of Jyotiraditya Scindia. At 28 years old, Mahanaryaman is set to become the third generation of the Scindia family to lead the state cricket board.

He has been the vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association since 2022. He played a significant role in launching the Madhya Pradesh League, a premier and only franchise league in the state, organized by GDCA under the MPCA. The league is credited with providing a platform for numerous talented young cricketers from across the state.

Other members of the executive committee, including Vineet Sethia (vice-president), Sudhir Asnani (secretary), and Sanjay Dua (treasurer), are also likely to be elected. The executive committee members also include Rajiv Risodkar, Prashun Kanmadi, Vijeas Rana, and Sandhya Agarwal. For the post of joint secretary, Prem Patel, Rajesh Bhargav, and Amardeep Pathania had taken the forms, and Amardeep Pathania has filled the form for this post.

The Scindia family has historically held significant influence over the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. Madhavrao Scindia was both a cricketer and the MPCA president. After him, Jyotiraditya Scindia took on the responsibility, later becoming a Member of Parliament and a Union Minister. Now, Jyotiraditya’s son, Mahanaryaman Scindia, has also entered politics and will assume the role of MPCA president.
