Following Ravi Shastri’s criticism of India’s fielding, Nasser Hussain expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance in the match. Hussain highlighted that India’s fielding lapses allowed England to gain momentum, particularly during the final session of Day 3. He noted that the Indian team didn’t capitalize on their strong batting performance, allowing England to score significantly. India’s fielders were responsible for giving opportunities to English batsmen Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook throughout Day 2 and Day 3. This allowed England to reach a total of 465, leaving India with only a six-run lead.

Hussain stated, “I think India will be a little disappointed. They had a collapse of 7-41 in their innings and the England score should then have been a lot less.”

He further added, “That last little session tonight was vital for them in that they didn’t let England back into the game even more.”

On Day 3, Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets (5/83), helping to dismiss England for 465. India had a lead of six runs. Ollie Pope scored 106, while Harry Brook scored 99. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj took three and two wickets for India, respectively. In their second innings, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal early, but a 66-run partnership between KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan helped stabilize the innings. At the end of the day, India had reached 90 for 2, leading by 96 runs.
