At the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic gold medalist and defending world champion, finished in eighth place in the men’s javelin final. With a best throw of 84.03 meters, Chopra’s performance was significantly below his usual standards. Following the event, Chopra attributed his performance to an inability to train effectively due to back pain. This candid admission provided insight into the physical challenges faced by elite athletes. While Chopra’s performance was below expectations, Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago secured the gold medal with a season-best throw of 88.16m. Sachin Yadav of India finished in fourth place with a personal best throw of 86.27m.
