Pathum Nissanka, the Sri Lankan batsman, achieved a remarkable feat in the Asia Cup 2025 match against India on September 26th. He not only broke Virat Kohli’s record but also accomplished three major achievements in a single match. Nissanka’s performance included scoring a century, becoming the first batsman to achieve this in the 2025 Asia Cup. Furthermore, he became only the fourth Sri Lankan player to have scored centuries in all three formats of the game. In addition to these accomplishments, Nissanka was awarded the Player of the Match, even though his team lost the game. His background is also noteworthy as he is the son of a ground boy, and his childhood was marked by financial hardship. Nissanka’s explosive batting, marked by a strike rate of 184.48, saw him score 107 runs off 58 balls, which included 6 sixes and 7 fours, solidifying his status as a key player in Sri Lankan cricket.
