The Indian cricket team’s triumph in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan has been met with widespread celebration, including a notable reaction from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a social media post, PM Modi congratulated the team, referencing ‘Operation Sindoor’ and highlighting India’s victory. This follows the recent destruction of Pakistani military bases by Indian forces in an operation with the same name. The Asia Cup final saw India defeat Pakistan by 5 wickets, securing their 9th title win. The victory comes amidst ongoing tensions between the two nations, and the Indian team’s performance has been lauded, especially considering the controversies and calls for boycotts surrounding the tournament. In the final match, Pakistan batted first, scoring 146 runs, with Sahibzada Farhan scoring 57 runs and Fakhar Zaman scoring 46 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for India. In response, India lost 3 wickets early but then, with a brilliant half-century by Tilak Verma, who scored 69 runs and remained not out, securing the victory, supported by Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson.
