    In a significant recognition of her cricketing prowess, India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, Richa Ghosh, has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent (DSP) in the West Bengal police force. This prestigious appointment comes following her stellar performance in the Women’s ODI World Cup. The announcement was made by the West Bengal government, celebrating Ghosh’s contribution to the national team. The formal handover of the appointment letter took place at a grand ceremony held at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally presented the letter to Ghosh during the felicitation event. Ghosh was also honored with the esteemed Banga Bhushan award by the state government. In addition to her new role, she received a golden bat and ball from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), symbolizing her achievements. The CAB also presented her with a cheque of Rs 34 lakhs, a gesture linked to her impressive performance in the World Cup final where she scored 34 runs under high-pressure circumstances. Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly was also present, highlighting Ghosh’s crucial role in the final match and her skillful approach to difficult batting situations. Both the Chief Minister and Ganguly expressed confidence in Ghosh’s potential to lead the Indian women’s cricket team in the future. Ghosh shared her personal preparation strategies, emphasizing target setting during practice and her enjoyment of challenging situations to secure team victories.
