Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has provided a significant update on his recovery journey, expressing immense gratitude for the support he has received. “The sun has been great therapy. Grateful to be back, Thanks for all the love and care,” Iyer posted on his Instagram, signaling a positive step forward after his injury. The middle-order batsman had been hospitalized in Sydney following an on-field incident during a recent tour of Australia. The injury, which occurred on October 25 during the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground, involved a laceration to the spleen and internal bleeding. Iyer sustained the injury while taking a difficult catch, immediately signaling discomfort and requiring medical attention. Subsequent scans confirmed the severity of the injury, necessitating surgical intervention. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously announced his discharge from a Sydney hospital, noting that specialists were pleased with his progress. The cricketer has been undergoing follow-up consultations in Sydney and is expected to return to India soon. He is anticipated to be sidelined for several months to ensure complete recovery and regain match fitness before returning to professional play.
