The injury, which occurred on October 25 during the third ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground, involved a laceration to the spleen and internal bleeding. Iyer sustained the injury while taking a difficult catch, immediately signaling discomfort and requiring medical attention. Subsequent scans confirmed the severity of the injury, necessitating surgical intervention. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously announced his discharge from a Sydney hospital, noting that specialists were pleased with his progress. The cricketer has been undergoing follow-up consultations in Sydney and is expected to return to India soon.
