Punjab is facing severe devastation as heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding, impacting numerous regions. Rivers have overflowed, leading to disruption of normal life. With a red alert issued for 12 out of 23 districts, authorities are on high alert, and rescue teams are working to manage the situation and prevent further damage. India’s Test captain, Shubman Gill, took to social media to express his solidarity and share a message of support during this difficult time. He wrote on X, “Heartbroken to see my Punjab devastated by floods. Punjab will always be stronger than any adversity, and we’ll rise up from this. My prayers are with all affected families. Standing strong with my people.” Prime Minister Modi contacted Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to discuss the escalating situation, assuring him of complete assistance and support. The ongoing rains have placed significant strain on Punjab, prompting villagers and volunteers to collaborate with state agencies to protect communities as water levels continue to rise.
