In a thrilling update to the T20I landscape, ICC’s Wednesday rankings reveal Suryakumar Yadav’s meteoric ascent, jumping five places to seventh thanks to his fireworks against New Zealand. The Indian skipper, who endured a lean 2025 without a fifty and exited the top 10, has flipped the script early in 2026.

Dominating the first three T20Is of the five-match series Down Under, SKY piled up 171 runs, including two unbeaten fifties with a best of 82*. This purple patch has reignited his ranking fortunes, placing him among the world’s elite.

At the summit, Abhishek Sharma of India fortifies his number one perch. Phil Salt (England) is second, Tilak Varma (India) third, Jos Buttler (England) fourth, and Sahibzada Farhan (Pakistan) fifth. Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka) holds sixth, SKY seventh, while Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh (both Australia), and Tim Seifert (New Zealand) slipped to 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively.

Bowling charts see Varun Chakaravarthy (India) atop, Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) second, Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka) third, and Jacob Duffy (New Zealand) fourth. Abrar Ahmed (Pakistan) climbed to fifth, Adil Rashid (England) sixth, Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh) rocketed five spots to seventh, Nathan Ellis (Australia) eighth, Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afghanistan) ninth, and Adam Zampa (Australia) tenth.

These rankings underscore a dynamic shift, with Indian stars leading the charge and setting the tone for future battles.
