Smriti Mandhana, the opening batsman for the Indian women’s cricket team, has faced consecutive failures in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. After scoring only 8 runs in the first match against Sri Lanka, expectations were high for her performance against Pakistan. However, she disappointed once again, struggling to score runs against Pakistan in ODIs. In the recent match, Mandhana managed only 23 runs off 32 balls, including 4 boundaries. This poor form is a concern for the team, especially considering her previous strong performance where she scored consecutive centuries against Australia, breaking Virat Kohli’s record. In the final ODI match against Australia, Mandhana scored a century in just 50 balls, surpassing Virat Kohli, who had achieved the feat in 52 balls in 2013 against Australia. Mandhana’s innings included 17 fours and 5 sixes, totaling 125 runs off 63 balls, but her team didn’t win. Her record against Pakistan in ODIs is poor, with an average of 25.66, scoring only 77 runs in 3 matches, including one fifty. In 10 T20I matches against Pakistan, she has scored 239 runs with an average of 26.55, with one half-century. In the Women’s ODI World Cup, Mandhana has played 18 matches, scoring 590 runs at an average of 34.70, including two centuries.
