Former champions Sri Lanka began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a resounding victory. The Sri Lankan team, which won the T20 format title in the previous Asia Cup (2022), comfortably defeated Bangladesh in their opening match of Group B. In the match played in Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka registered a 6-wicket victory with a strong bowling performance followed by explosive batting, opening their account in the tournament. The Bangladeshi team, batting first, could only score 139 runs against the deadly bowling of Nuwan Thushara, Dushmantha Chameera, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Subsequently, with the help of blistering innings from Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara, Sri Lanka achieved the target in just 15 overs.
