In a thrilling start to the Super Sixes at the U19 Cricket World Cup 2026, Australia dismantled South Africa by six wickets on the Namibia Cricket Ground. The victory not only boosts their net run rate but also sends a clear message to rivals in the competition.

Opting to field, Australia struck immediately, dismissing Armaan Manack for nought. Mohammad Bulbulia and Jorich van Schalkwyk resisted briefly with a 27-run alliance, but Bulbulia’s 19-run knock ended abruptly. South Africa crumbled to 37 for 4 soon after.

Paul James provided some resistance, scoring 33 with a six and a four in his 60-ball stay, partnering van Schalkwyk (26) for 30 runs. Yet, the total read a paltry 118 all out in 32.1 overs. Australia’s bowlers shone: Charles Lachmund’s 3-fer, plus two wickets each from Will Byrom and Aryan Sharma, sealed the deal.

Australia’s pursuit began shakily with Will Malazuk out for 4 at 7 for 1. Steven Hogan emerged as the hero, crafting 43 from 73 balls with five boundaries. He combined with Nitesh Samuel (16) for 38, Oliver Peak (10) for 22, and Alex Lee Young for 27.

The match concluded comfortably as Lee Young and Zaden Draper finished unbeaten, adding 28 in just 32.5 overs. South Africa’s JJ Basson fought back with 3 for 41, but it wasn’t enough. Australia’s composed chase highlights their depth and maturity, positioning them strongly for upcoming clashes.
