The Indian Under-19 cricket team has secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series against Australia Under-19. The team is now aiming for a clean sweep. However, all eyes are also on Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has a chance to break a long-standing record held by Pakistan. The upcoming third Youth ODI on the Australian tour presents the final opportunity for Suryavanshi to surpass the Pakistani record, which has stood for 24 years.

The record in question is related to the youngest batsman to score a century in Australia. In December 1997, 19-year-old Pakistani opener Hasan Raza became the youngest player to score a century in an Under-19 ODI on Australian soil.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently the second-youngest batsman in the world to score a century in an Under-19 ODI, achieving this feat at the age of 14. The world record is held by New Zealand’s Thomas Zohrab, who scored a century in an Under-19 ODI at 11 years and 361 days old. The focus here is on the Australian record, where Suryavanshi has the opportunity to make his mark as the youngest.

Hasan Raza, like Suryavanshi, was an opening batsman. Raza’s unbeaten innings of 100 runs came in Melbourne, making him the youngest to achieve this in Australia. Suryavanshi is also an opener and is in good form. His age is also significantly less than Raza’s. Therefore, if he scores a century in the third and final ODI against the Australia Under-19 team, the record held by the Pakistani player will be his.
