The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is heating up, and with South Africa’s decisive victory over Pakistan, the locations for the crucial first semifinal and the grand final have been locked in. Pakistan’s defeat marked their official elimination from the tournament, leaving them as the only team without a win after six matches played. The highly anticipated Women’s World Cup 2025 tournament has now confirmed key venue details.
The significant match took place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where South Africa clinched a victory against Pakistan despite challenging weather conditions that shortened the game. South Africa posted an impressive 312/9 in 40 overs, featuring strong half-centuries from Laura Wolvaardt, Sune Luus, and Marizanne Kapp, alongside a blistering 41 off just 16 balls from Nadine de Klerk. The second innings was also impacted by rain, but South Africa managed to bowl the required overs and secure a commanding 150-run win via the DLS method.
This outcome officially ends Pakistan’s semifinal aspirations. With two points from abandoned matches, they remain at the bottom of the standings. Consequently, the first semifinal is scheduled for the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The prestigious final will be contested at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The second semifinal was already slated to be held at the same Navi Mumbai venue.
Previously, there was a contingency for Colombo to host both semifinals and the final had Pakistan managed to qualify. This was due to an existing agreement for neutral venues for matches involving India and Pakistan in global tournaments, an arrangement carried over from the Champions Trophy 2025.
