Yashasvi Jaiswal has spoken out regarding his omission from the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The 22-year-old cricketer acknowledged that team selections are beyond his control and that his focus remains on self-improvement and hard work. During a conversation, Jaiswal emphasized his strategy of concentrating on “controlling the controllables” rather than dwelling on the selection process. He stated that decisions are made based on team combinations and his role is to perform to the best of his ability. Jaiswal expressed his belief that when the right time comes, things will fall into place and his consistent efforts will pay off. He also highlighted his aspiration to contribute to the team’s success in the World Cup, recalling the special feeling of the T20 World Cup victory in 2024 and the warm reception received upon returning to India. Notably, the selection of the Asia Cup 2025 squad, announced by Chairman Ajit Agarkar, sparked discussion, particularly regarding the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Jaiswal, while Shubman Gill was included and named vice-captain. Jaiswal has demonstrated strong performance in the T20 format, with 723 runs in 23 T20Is at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 164.31.
