Jwala Singh, coach of Yashasvi Jaiswal, anticipates that the young cricketer will score two or more centuries during his first Test tour of England. This prediction comes after Jaiswal’s impressive performance in the first match of the series against England at Headingley, where he scored a brilliant century. Jaiswal, opening the Indian batting lineup, battled cramps throughout his innings and scored 101 runs, including 16 fours and a six, before getting out. This made him the first Indian opener to achieve a Test century at this historic venue.

Singh expressed his confidence in Jaiswal’s ability, stating, “Given the coach’s confidence, he might score at least two more centuries. I had expected two centuries in Australia, but that didn’t happen. However, I think he’ll score at least two more centuries here. He’s worked hard on his game.” Singh further highlighted Jaiswal’s mental toughness and controlled boundary shots, drawing comparisons to Sourav Ganguly’s memorable innings at Lord’s. He noted that left-handed centuries have a special significance.

Jaiswal’s outstanding performance on the first day of the Test at Headingley was marked by a composed century. He celebrated his achievement with a display of emotion, showcasing his maturity and shot selection. He and KL Rahul established a strong opening partnership, setting the stage for India’s substantial score of 359 for 3. Jaiswal adapted well to the pace and capitalized on loose deliveries with well-placed boundaries, demonstrating his prowess on challenging English pitches.
