BSNL, the state-owned telecom company, has launched eSIM service for its customers, joining private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi). This means BSNL users can now make calls and use the internet without needing a physical SIM card. The company aims to provide a better experience to users with the launch of the eSIM service, following its 4G rollout. BSNL is focused on upgrading its services and introducing new ones to compete with private companies.

BSNL has partnered with Tata Communications for its eSIM service. Tata Communications’ MOVE platform will be used for eSIM subscription management. This platform will help in providing eSIMs to a large number of users. BSNL’s move aims to provide a better mobile connectivity experience to its customers.

BSNL eSIM supports 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. Users whose phones support eSIM can take advantage of this new service from BSNL. Managing Director and Chairman of BSNL, A. Robert Ravi, stated that the launch of the pan-India eSIM service will help take telecom capabilities to a new level.

Following the 4G service, BSNL is now focusing on 5G. According to several media reports, BSNL may launch 5G service by the end of 2025. The 5G service is expected to launch in Delhi and Mumbai by the end of the year.
