India has emerged as the primary target for cyberattacks, according to a recent report. The country now leads the world in facing cyber threats, surpassing Brazil and Spain in the number of attacks. The report, released by the Swiss cybersecurity firm Acronis, highlights the increasing vulnerability of Indian systems to malicious activities. In May, 12.4% of Windows operating systems in India were found to have malware, a figure that rose to 13.2% in June. The report also notes a significant increase in cyberattacks via official emails, from 20% at the start of 2024 to 25.6% in the first half of 2025. Cybercriminals are increasingly using AI tools to steal personal data, including credit card information and passwords. The report indicates that the manufacturing, IT services, and telecom industries in India are among the most at risk.
