The GST Council has decided to provide significant relief to consumers by reducing the tax slabs on electronic goods. Effective September 22nd, products such as air conditioners, televisions, dishwashers, and refrigerators will now be taxed at 18% instead of the previous 28%. This change is expected to make these items more affordable for consumers. The reduction in GST will lower the prices of larger screen televisions (32 inches and above), LCDs, LEDs, monitors, projectors, and set-top boxes, making them more accessible to customers. Air conditioners and dishwashers also see a GST reduction, potentially decreasing AC prices by approximately ₹1,500 to ₹3,500. Furthermore, the tax on renewable energy products, solar panels, and composting machines has been cut from 12% to 5%.
