Pre-booking for the new Apple series began on September 12th, with deliveries initially slated to commence on September 19th. However, customers may now have to wait longer to receive their new devices. The promised delivery dates are not being met, and retailers in India are reportedly facing stock shortages.
Retailers have indicated shortages of the iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air. Sources within the industry suggest that the shortages are partly due to the expansion of Apple’s retail network, especially impacting the stock of iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max per store.
According to Apple’s official website, booking the iPhone 17 256GB storage variant today (September 15th) indicates a delivery window between September 27th and October 5th. Booking the iPhone 17 Pro 512GB variant also shows a delivery timeframe from September 27th to October 5th.
Booking the iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB variant currently shows a delivery window between October 5th and October 11th. The base variant (Gold Rose) of the iPhone 17 Air, if booked today, also shows a delivery timeframe from September 27th to October 5th. Delivery dates may vary depending on the storage and color variants selected.
The initial focus of the new iPhone series production in India is on the base models. Increased production of the Pro and Pro Max iPhone models begins a few weeks later.
A shipment of approximately 500 units includes about 50 units of the Pro and about 10 units of the Pro Max models. The 512GB and 1TB variants are also experiencing low unit availability.
