The Apple iPhone 17 Series is anticipated to launch in September, and as the launch date approaches, new information about the upcoming series emerges. A recent report reveals that all models in the series will be produced in India. This series is being prepared in five local factories, with two factories having recently commenced operations.

Sources indicate that this marks the first time all new iPhone models, including the premium Pro variants, will be manufactured in India. This move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to reduce its reliance on China for shipments to the US and to protect itself from tariff risks. The company has already shifted a significant portion of iPhone production for the American market from China to India.

    Export Growth

The Tata Group plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Foxconn’s hub near the Bengaluru airport are central to this expansion. According to sources familiar with the matter, Tata has handled nearly half of India’s iPhone production within two years. This shift has led to an increase in India’s export figures. From April to July this year, India exported iPhones worth $7.5 billion, compared to $17 billion for the entire previous fiscal year.

With the Trump administration moving towards imposing heavy tariffs on Chinese goods, Apple is grappling with an uncertain US trade environment. Although smartphones like the iPhone have been largely protected from widespread tariffs, former US President Donald Trump stated that if Apple wants to manufacture iPhones for America, it should be done in America, not China or India.
