Meta has introduced its initial augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, a collaboration with Ray-Ban, alongside two other new AI smart glasses. The Meta Ray-Ban Display represents the brand’s first smart glasses featuring a heads-up display, reminiscent of Google Glass. Maintaining a classic Wayfarer-style design, these glasses integrate a camera, microphone, and speakers, all while appearing as ordinary eyewear.

The right lens houses a discreet, bright display situated just below the eye line, capable of showcasing text, images, live video calls, and more. The display activates only when the user interacts with the glasses, ensuring privacy. An LED indicator signals when the camera is in use.

The unveiling of these glasses was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the Meta Connect event held on Wednesday.

Zuckerberg emphasized the potential of glasses as a form factor to allow AI to perceive the user’s environment, incorporating both visual and auditory information, and eventually generating content such as images or video. This statement was made at the tech giant’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
