The company has officially announced its plans to open its first office in India and build a team. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, is scheduled to visit India next month, marking his second visit within a year, indicating the company’s focus on the Indian market.
Currently, OpenAI has listed three job vacancies on its career website for India. These positions are all for Account Director roles within the sales department.

These roles involve educating customers on the impact of AI models on their businesses and users, working with researchers, engineers, and strategists, and managing the sales cycle from pipeline generation to closure. This plan is significantly cheaper than the global Plus Plan at $20 monthly (approximately ₹1,752) and the Pro Plan at $200 monthly (approximately ₹17,530).
